Cruising on Brahmaputra (11 Days / 10 Nights)

Guwahati, Kaziranga National Park, Dhansirimukh, Majuli, Sibsagar, Dibrugarh



Day Description
Day 1

Arrive at Guwahati and proceed for your hotel. You could explore the old quarters of Guwahati bordering the Brahmaputra River (there is Courthouse on MG road, Digholi Pukhuri Park for boating, Guwahati Planetarium, Assam State Museum and the Bazaar’s). Overnight at hotel in Guwahati.

Day 2

Guwahati being the city of temples one can visit Kamakhya temple (one of the 51 Shakti Peeth) and a number of other famous temples. Spend some time at Shankaradev Kalashetra for a dose of local culture and you could hit one of the pubs at night. Overnight at hotel in Guwahati.

Day 3

Check out and proceed to Steemer Ghat. From here board the cruise ship (check assambengalnavigation.com for details). Overnight onboard.

Day 4

Disembark pre dawn and drive to Kaziranga National Park. Here take an early morning Elephant ride through the central range to view the one- horned rhino and other wild animals (you can also do some bird watching). Return to cruise for breakfast, as the ship moves upstream. Around midday the ship reaches Vishnath. Here you will visit an Ahom period Shiva Temple and some other temples as you walk through the town before setting off again.

Day 5

The day will be spent cruising (you can spot Dolphins). By evening the ship arrives at Dhansiri Mukh. After visit board the ship. Overnight on board.

Day 6

Today take a morning jeep safari through Kaziranga’s eastern range. Return to the ship as you continue your cruise upstream.

Day 7

Full day on ship. You will disembark once at a bank side village to get an insight of rural life in Assam. Overnight on board.

Day 8

Around breakfast time the ship will reach Majuli Island. Here visit the Vaishnavite Satras – unique Hindu monasteries famous for their dance drama performances. Visit Auni Ati and then attend a dance performance at Kamalbari. Board the ship by evening.

Day 9

Today you will visit Horu Charai Tea estate and see the process of tea production (factory inoperative between December to mid March). Then take a short one hour drive to Sibsagar (one time capital of the kings of Assam). Explore Sibsagar and return to the ship by evening. Overnight on board (last night on cruise).

Day 10

Disembark from the ship and proceed for Dibrugarh. Check in at hotel or one of the Planter’s Bungalow (not included in the cruise). Explore at your own pace. Overnight in Dibrugarh.

Day 11

Check out and proceed for onwards journey.
