Great Lakes Trek - Kashmir (10 Days / 9 Nights)
Srinagar, Sonmarg, Nichnai, Vishansar Lake, Kishansar Lake, Gadsar Lake, Satsar Lakes, Gangabal Lake, Naranag
After you arrive in Srinagar check in at your hotel/houseboat and relax for sometime before you start exploring Srinagar. Depending on the time you reach Srinagar today, you can visit Nagin lake, the Mughal gardens (Nishat and Shalimar Bagh), Shankaracharya temple/Jama Masjid and Chashma Shahi spring.
In the morning take a shikara ride on the lake, if you are an early riser you can visit the floating market by a shikara.. After breakfast proceed for Sonamarg. Sonamarg is the base camp. Explore Sonamarg and surroundings and get acclimatized.
Today you will trek to Nichnai via Shekdur via beautiful alpine meadows. Distance of 9 km will be covered in about 6 hrs. Camp overnight at Nichnai.
Take the route from Nichnai to Vishansar Lake. Today’s trekking route is 12 kms and will take around 6 hrs. You can camp around the serene lake for night halt.
Explore the twin lakes of Kishansar and Vishansar. The day is mostly at leisure clicking photographs unless you want to go trout fishing. Overnight at camp in Vishansar.
Start trekking from Vishansar to your next destination Gadsar Lake via Kishansar Lake and Gadsar Pass. An hour after you start you will see the wonderful view of both the twin lakes together. Traversing through the beautiful meadows you will be mesmerized by the scenery around you. The days trek will take roughly 5 hrs.
Today you need to trek to Satsar Lakes from Gadsar which will be covered in around 6 hrs. Reporting at Satsar army check post is compulsory. Overnight in camp.
Today’s trek will take you to the beautiful twin lakes of Gangabal. You can cover the distance of 9 km in about 6 hrs. Overnight halt at camp in Gangabal.
This is the final day of trek, in which you will descend from Gangabal to Naranag covering a distance of roughly 11 km. Explore Naranag and then transfer to Srinagar. Overnight at hotel/houseboat in Srinagar.
You can either relax in a houseboat in Srinagar after the ardous trek or check out of hotel and proceed for Airport/station.
