Chadar Frozen River Trek- Ladakh (10 Days / 9 Nights)
Leh, Chilling, Tilat Sumdo, Shingra Koma, Tibb, Nerak
After you arrive at Leh airport check in at your hotel and relax so you can acclimatize to the high altitude and bitter cold.
You begin your wonderful trek today. First drive from Leh to Chilling (en route you can spot the Sangam of Indus and Zanskar rivers). On reaching Chilling begin your trek from the road end to Tilat Sumdo. Being the first day of trek you just cover 2 kms today in about an hour. Overnight at camp site.
Today’s trek is from Tilat Sumdo to Shingra Koma which takes around 6 -7 hrs. Being little accustomed by yesterday’s short walk on the chadar, today you will cover a distance of almost 10 kms and within first few hrs you will get the hang of it. Overnight at Shingra Koma campsite.
Day three of trek is a long one but also one of the most beautiful. Starting from Shingra Koma you will reach Tibb (15 kms) in 7-8 hrs. On your way you will cross few small waterfalls turned ice falls and one massive waterfall surprisingly not frozen even at sub zero temperatures. Your guide will be more than happy to tell you it’s legend. Overnight at camping area in Tibb.
Trek from Tibb to Nerak (12 kms in 7-8 hrs). After 5 hrs into the trek you can see the famous frozen fall of Nerak. On reaching Nerak, if you have the stamina trek to Nerak village, for a glimpse of Zanskari village life. Night at Nerak campsite.
Return from Nerak to Tibb. Night halt at Tibb.
Trek back from Tibb to Shingra Koma. If you are lucky you might even spot a snow leopard in this region while going or coming back. Don’t worry retracing your path is not going to be boring at all, it might even surprise you. Overnight at Shingra Koma camping area.
Trek from Shingra Koma to Tilat Sumdo and on the same day drive back to Leh. Overnight at hotel in Leh.
We suggest you stay back an extra day and relax in Leh.
Check out of hotel and onwards to airport for your flight back home.
