Awesome Assam (10 Days / 9 Nights)
Guwahati, Tezpur, Kaziranga National Park, Majuli, Dibrugarh
Arrive at Guwahati and proceed for your hotel. You could explore the old quarters of Guwahati bordering the Brahmaputra River (there is Courthouse on MG road, Digholi Pukhuri Park for boating, Guwahati Planetarium, Assam State Museum and the Bazaar’s). Overnight at hotel in Guwahati.
Guwahati being the city of temples one can visit Kamakhya temple (one of the 51 Shakti Peeth) and a number of other famous temples. Spend some time at Shankaradev Kalashetra for a dose of local culture and in the evening enjoy river cruise on Brahmaputra. You could hit one of the pubs at night.
Check out and proceed for Tezpur (full of lakes and parks it has enchanting views of the Brahmaputra River). Post check in at your hotel visit Mahabhairav Temple, Agnigarh Hill, Chitralekha Udyan and Ganesh Temple (preferably in time for sunset). Overnight at Tezpur.
Check out and proceed for Kaziranga National Park. Kaziranga is a UNESCO world heritage site and home to one-horned rhino. Depending on the time you reach you could take a jeep safari in the park. Overnight at hotel/lodge.
Start your day early and take an elephant safari (a must do) to view the one- horned rhino and other wild animals. Return for breakfast and then move on to take a jeep safari again. Apart from wildlife you can also do some bird watching. Have lunch and relax for some time before you set out to explore nearby villages. Overnight at hotel/lodge.
Check out and proceed for the unique Majuli Island (drive to Nimatighat and then take a ferry). Here visit the Vaishnavite Satras. Majuli is a must visit in Assam as the villages are being slowly washed away with increasing soil erosion. Overnight in Majuli.
Majuli is also a birdwatchers paradise, so set out for some early morning bird watching and later explore more of the rich culture of the sprawling river island. Overnight in Majuli or you could transfer to a hotel/ resort in Jorhat by evening.
Check out and proceed for Dibrugarh (for some authentic experience stay at one of the Planter’s Bungalow). You could take a tea estate tour and keep the rest of the day relaxed. Overnight in Dibrugarh.
Take a ferry ride from Dibrugarh to Pasighat (a must do), rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Dibrugarh.
